Minutes of the Meeting of
Wednesday January 2, 2002
1. Call to order
President
Joe Willer, City of American Canyon called the meeting was called to order at 12:05
P.M. at Cattleman’s Restaurant in Santa Rosa.
2. Self Introductions
Pres. Willer welcomed 16
guests and each member introduced him/herself. Pres. Willer then passed the
gavel to the incoming president Chris Warrick, who assumed the duties for the
coming year. Joe Willer then assumed the duties of Treasurer.
3. Approval of Minutes
A discussion ensued
concerning the emailing of the minutes and the errors in the floppy disc with
all email addresses of the members, the posting of the minutes to the new web
site (www.reicbo.org) and the elimination of hard copy minutes.

4. Program
The program was presented
by CISPI representative, Ira Schumer. As always, Mr. Schumer's presentation was
very informative and brought the chapter up to date on the new requirements for
the marking of cast iron soil pipe. He elaborated on the place of origin and the
manufacturer's markings and how they were to be identified on the pipe. He also
brought us up to speed on the new materials and uses thereof for acid waste and
highly corrosive installations. He also informed us that the start date of the
new plumbing code is October 1, 2002 and that the new chapter 15 describes
firestopping. He discussed height limitations and lack thereof, as well as many
new changes in the 2000 code. February's program will be the installation of
officers.
5. Officers and Committee Reports
a. Treasurer
Treasurer Willer reported that in the business interest account we have $1797.19,
in the business money market account we have $2719.46, in the education account
$2955.21 and in the CD account there is $11,180.18.
b. Secretary
Ed Henry gave out copies of the last of the hard copy minutes. He announced that
the minutes would heretofore be posted to the web site (www.reicbo.org) He
announced how to get to the web site and that www.reicbo.org is the new address.
c. Vice President
Vice President Mary Jane Fagalde had nothing to report.
d. President
President Warrick apologized for not having the installation of officers as the
program, but, it was unavoidable as there was no one available to do the
installation until February. The following officers assumed their respective
duties.

e. Executive Committee
Nothing to report except to announce our new web site at www.reicbo.org.
f. Education Committee
Ed Henry reported that the energy seminar was a rousing success. More seminars are
being researched for scheduling. Bill Schultze of Windsor said he could schedule
functions at the Windsor City Council Chambers, so, the Marin Civic and the City
Council chambers at Windsor will be utilized for upcoming seminars.
g. Code Development Committee
Nothing to report.
h. ICBO Committee
Nothing to report.
i. CALBO Liaison
Dave Martinez reported that CALBO will have its packets ready before long for
the annual business meeting in San Diego. He also mentioned that CALBO Fire
Advisory Committee met at the Sacramento Airport to discuss the amendments to
the state code. Dave Martinez and Lee Braun on behalf of CALBO will attend the
FPO meeting in Monterey.
6. Correspondence and Announcements
Cindy Heitzman is looking for a Disabled Rights Advocate. Anyone with any
information can reach Cindy Heitzman at the City of St. Helena (707) 963-2741.
Dave Martinez of the City of Santa Rosa is looking for a limited funded Building
Technician position. The position is funded for a period of three years. You can
reach either Ms. Heitzman or Mr. Martinez at our new web site at
www.reicbo.org.
7. Legislative News
Nothing to report.
8. Old Business
Larry Jones is updating the video library and would like some assistance in
determining what to keep and what to discard. The educational committee will
help Larry Jones out with the decisions. The discarded tapes and discs will be
donated to the Sonoma County Library. You can contact Mr. Jones at
www.reicbo.org.
The committee on bylaws, Dave Martinez, Lee Braun, Joe Willer, Bill Schultze,
Cindy Heitzman and Wayne Wirick checked with ICBO and our bylaws will not be in
conflict with the ICBO Chapter requirements. The committee is asking for
comments on bylaw changes.
9. New Business
REICBO now has a web site (www.reicbo.org) , so, log on. designed and initiated
by our own Larry Jones, City of Santa Rosa, the site is extremely easy to
navigate and contains a myriad of information. The group showed Larry its
appreciation by a nice round of applause. From this month on it will also
contain the minutes of the previous meeting. So there will be no more hard copy
minutes mailed to the members.
